JUST IN:COLLINGWOOD FOOTBALL CLUB WELCOMES BACK MATTHEW BOYD AS… see… more

Melbourne, Australia – The Collingwood Football Club is thrilled to announce the return of Matthew Boyd as the team’s new Assistant Coach. Boyd, a highly respected and experienced coach, will bring his expertise to the Magpies’ coaching staff, working closely with Senior Coach Craig McRae.

Boyd’s return to Collingwood marks a homecoming of sorts, as he spent four seasons with the club as a player from 2003 to 2006. After retiring as a player, Boyd went on to develop his coaching career, spending four seasons as an Assistant Coach with Fremantle.

“We’re delighted to welcome Matthew back to the Collingwood Football Club,” said McRae. “He’s an outstanding coach with a wealth of experience, and we’re confident he’ll make a significant contribution to our team.”

Boyd’s coaching philosophy is centered around developing strong relationships with players and creating a positive team culture. He’s known for his ability to get the best out of his players, and his experience working with Fremantle’s midfield group will be invaluable to the Magpies.

“I’m excited to be returning to Collingwood and working with Craig and the rest of the coaching staff,” said Boyd. “I’m looking forward to contributing to the team’s success and helping to develop the next generation of Magpies players.”

Boyd’s appointment is a significant boost to Collingwood’s coaching staff, and his experience and expertise will be invaluable as the team looks to build on its strong 2024 season.

“Matthew’s return is a great coup for our club,” said Collingwood CEO Mark Anderson. “We’re confident he’ll make a significant impact on our team and help us achieve our goals in 2025 and beyond.”

Boyd will commence his new role with Collingwood immediately, working closely with McRae and the rest of the coaching staff to prepare the team for the 2025 season.
