Collingwood Football Club is thrilled to announce the signing of three new players, each committing to a two-year deal with the Magpies. The new recruits bring a mix of youth, experience, and talent to the club, strengthening Collingwood’s roster for the future.
Leading the trio of new signings is Airlie Runnalls, a talented young midfielder from the Murray Bushrangers. Runnalls, 18, has been touted as one of the most exciting prospects in the country, with her speed, agility, and ball-handling skills making her a valuable asset to the Magpies.
“I’m thrilled to be joining Collingwood and can’t wait to get started,” Runnalls said. “The club has a rich history and a strong culture, and I’m excited to be a part of it.”
Joining Runnalls at Collingwood is Mattea Breed, a versatile forward from the Geelong Falcons. Breed, 19, has already shown her skills at the national level, representing Vic Country in the 2022 AFLW Under-19 Championships.
“I’m really looking forward to being part of the Collingwood family and contributing to the team’s success,” Breed said.
Rounding out the trio of new signings is Emily Smith, a talented ruckwoman from the Oakleigh Chargers. Smith, 20, has already gained valuable experience playing for Vic Metro in the 2022 AFLW Under-19 Championships.
“I’m excited to be joining Collingwood and working with the team’s experienced rucks,” Smith said. “I’m looking forward to learning and growing as a player.”
Collingwood’s General Manager of Women’s Football, Jess Burger, welcomed the new recruits to the club. “We’re thrilled to have Airlie, Mattea, and Emily join our team,” Burger said. “They bring a mix of youth, talent, and experience to our roster, and we’re excited to see them develop and grow as players.”
The new signings are a significant boost to Collingwood’s roster, which is already shaping up to be one of the strongest in the competition. With a mix of experienced players and talented young recruits, the Magpies are well-placed to make a deep run in the 2026 AFLW season.
