Jacksonville, FL – The Ole Miss Rebels made history on Thursday, capping off their 2023 season with a dominating 52-20 win over the Duke Blue Devils in the Gator Bowl.
The victory marked the Rebels’ 11th win of the season, setting a new program record for most wins in a season. It was also the team’s first Gator Bowl win since 1970.
“We’re so proud of our team and what we’ve accomplished this season,” said Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin. “To set a new record for most wins in a season is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our players and coaches.”
The Rebels’ offense was clicking on all cylinders, with quarterback Jaxson Dart throwing for 278 yards and two touchdowns. Running back Quinshon Judkins added 201 yards on the ground, including a 65-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.
Ole Miss’ defense was equally impressive, holding the Blue Devils to just 20 points and forcing three turnovers.
“This was a total team effort,” said Kiffin. “Our offense, defense, and special teams all played a crucial role in this win. We’re so proud of everyone involved.”
The Rebels’ historic win was celebrated by the team’s fans, who traveled in large numbers to Jacksonville for the game.
“This is an incredible feeling,” said Ole Miss athletic director Keith Carter. “To see our team make history like this is a truly special moment. We’re so grateful to our fans for their support all season long.”
The Rebels’ 11-win season is a major milestone for the program, which has been rebuilding under Kiffin’s leadership.
“This is just the beginning,” said Kiffin. “We’re excited to see what the future holds for our program. We’re going to enjoy this win for now, but we’re already looking forward to next season.”
With their historic win over Duke, the Rebels have cemented their status as one of the top programs in the country. As they look to the future, one thing is clear: Ole Miss is a force to be reckoned with.
