British Council Research Fellowship | Fully Funded 2024

The British Council Research Fellowship is accepting applications for her research collaboration with the Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities (IASH) at the University of Edinburgh.

Every successful applicant is awarded a £30,000 grant, travel expenses, desk space, library access, and academic mentoring through the British Council Fellowship Program.

To commemorate her 90th anniversary in 2024, the British Council Research Fellowship is launching a new research collaboration with the University of Edinburgh’s Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities (IASH).

The British Council is offering two 12-month fellowships beginning in January 2025 for postdoctoral researchers based in any ODA (Official Development Assistance) recipient nation where the British Council operates (see ‘Eligibility’ section below).

The fellowship is a three-year relationship. In the ensuing years, additional rounds of fellowships will be given as part of the same program, beginning in January 2026 and January 2027.

Eligibility Requirements:

To qualify for the British Council Research Fellowship 2024, you must:

• Be qualified to undertake postdoctoral-level research for the fellowship.
• Be within seven years of completion of your PhD.
• Be based in an ODA recipient country in which the British Council operates.
• Have a research that is aligned with the overarching vision of the British Council

Benefits and Duration:

• The fellowship provides a bursary of £2,500 per month and travel expenses as well as desk space, library access and academic mentoring as part of the vibrant scholarly community of visiting fellows at IASH.
• The program is a 12-month fellowship, fellows will spend the first ten months of their fellowships at IASH, followed by up to two months based in their home countries
