The wait is finally over for Ole Miss men’s basketball fans, as the program has announced its highly anticipated roster for the 2024-25 season. The Rebels have reloaded with a talented mix of experienced players and newcomers, setting the stage for an exciting campaign.

At the forefront of the roster is junior forward Matthew Murrell, who returns as one of the team’s top scorers. Murrell, a 6-foot-7 versatile threat, averaged 12.4 points and 4.4 rebounds per game last season. His presence provides a solid foundation for the Rebels’ offense.

Joining Murrell in the starting lineup is a trio of talented transfers. Graduate guard TJ Caldwell, who previously played at Pacific, brings a wealth of experience and scoring punch to the backcourt. Caldwell averaged 14.1 points and 4.5 assists per game last season.

The Rebels have also added a pair of impactful big men in forwards Jayveous McKinnis and Jaemyn Brakefield. McKinnis, a 6-foot-7 transfer from Jackson State, provides a strong presence in the paint, while Brakefield, a 6-foot-8 sophomore, offers a unique blend of size, skill, and athleticism.

Rounding out the roster are several promising newcomers, including freshman guards Daeshun Ruffin and Amaree Abram. Ruffin, a 5-star recruit from Callaway High School, is expected to make an immediate impact in the backcourt, while Abram, a 4-star recruit from Magnolia Heights, brings a high level of energy and competitiveness to the team.

“We’re excited about the depth and talent of our roster,” said Ole Miss head coach Chris Beard. “We’ve got a great mix of experience and youth, and we’re looking forward to seeing how everything comes together on the court.”
