BENGALS BOLSTER KICKING DEPTH WITH ADDITION OF…
Cincinnati, OH – The Cincinnati Bengals have made a move to strengthen their kicking corps, signing kicker Cade York to the practice squad. The move comes as the team looks to shore up its special teams unit ahead of the final stretch of the season.
York, a rookie kicker out of LSU, was a fourth-round draft pick by the Cleveland Browns in the 2022 NFL Draft. He spent the preseason with the Browns, but was waived as part of the team’s final roster cuts.
Despite not making the Browns’ active roster, York has been working hard to refine his craft and prove himself as a reliable kicker in the NFL. His addition to the Bengals’ practice squad provides the team with a talented and motivated young kicker who can push incumbent kicker Evan McPherson for playing time.
“We’re excited to add Cade to our practice squad,” said Bengals special teams coordinator Darrin Simmons. “He’s a talented young kicker with a strong leg and a lot of potential. We’re looking forward to seeing him compete and develop his skills with our team.”
York’s addition to the practice squad is also a testament to the Bengals’ commitment to building a strong and competitive special teams unit. With McPherson currently on the reserve/injured list, York will have the opportunity to prove himself as a reliable kicker and potentially earn a spot on the active roster.
“I’m thrilled to join the Bengals and be a part of this team,” York said. “I’m looking forward to learning from Coach Simmons and the rest of the coaching staff, and to competing with Evan and the rest of the special teams unit. I’m excited to get to work and contribute to the team’s success in any way I can.”
The Bengals will face the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, and York will likely be in attendance as a member of the practice squad. As he begins his tenure with the team, York is eager to prove himself and make a positive impact on the Bengals’ special teams unit.
