JUST IN:JUSTIN HERBERT SIDELINED AS A RESULT OF….
Los Angeles, CA – The Los Angeles Chargers’ playoff aspirations suffered a significant blow on Wednesday as quarterback Justin Herbert was sidelined with a left ankle injury. The news sent shockwaves throughout the NFL, with fans and pundits alike wondering how the Chargers will cope without their star signal-caller.
According to reports, Herbert suffered the injury during the Chargers’ Week 14 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Although he finished the game, Herbert was visibly limping and struggled to move around the pocket.
The Chargers’ medical staff has diagnosed Herbert with a high ankle sprain, an injury that typically requires several weeks of rest and rehabilitation. While the team has not officially ruled Herbert out for the season, it’s unlikely that he’ll be able to return to the field anytime soon.
Justin is a tough kid, and he wants to play,” said Chargers head coach Brandon Staley. “But we have to be smart about this. We can’t risk further injuring his ankle and jeopardizing his long-term health.”
Herbert’s injury is a devastating blow to the Chargers, who were already facing an uphill battle to make the playoffs. With Herbert under center, the Chargers had been one of the most explosive offenses in the NFL, averaging over 25 points per game. Without him, the team’s chances of making a deep postseason run seem slim.
The Chargers will now turn to backup quarterback Chase Daniel to lead the team. Daniel, a 13-year veteran, has started several games in his career but has never been asked to carry a team for an extended period.
“Chase is a pro, and he’s been preparing for this moment his whole career,” said Staley. “We have confidence in him, and we know he’ll do everything he can to help us win.”
The Chargers’ next game is on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins. While the team is still holding out hope that Herbert might be able to return later in the season, for now, they’ll have to rely on Daniel to lead the charge.
